Since joining the Masterportal Implementation Consortium in 2019, Thuringia has been actively involved in its further development and, in addition to the Thuringia Viewer, has six further thematic viewers in productive use. The ‘Land Registry Information System’ viewer consistently adheres to the Free State of Thuringia’s open data policy and enables anyone to generate and access free extracts from the land registry.
In Thuringia, the Central Geodata Service has been working since 2021 on the acquisition and processing of municipal geospatial data (including metadata) with the aim of publishing it comprehensively and freely in the Thuringia Viewer.
The current challenge is the migration of the entire system to a government cloud environment.
In mid-2026, the KriSiGEO system was launched for Thuringia. Developed in cooperation with North Rhine-Westphalia, it provides incident commanders with an application that is available offline during crises and supports operational decision-making based on up-to-date geodata.
