With Smart Mapping, the Working Committee of the Surveying Authorities of the Laender of the Federal Republic of Germany (AdV) has introduced a modular development platform for the rapid, agile and cost-effective production of cartographic products, known as basemap.de. This platform makes AdV standard products – developed and produced centrally – available for re-use in real time via open data licences. In parallel, corresponding product and quality standards are being drawn up, agreed with subject matter experts and published.
The products and services already available for operational use are:
A nationwide web service featuring LoD2 buildings, optionally with or without 3D terrain, is now available as a beta version. A global web map, ‘basemap.world Web Vector’, and a slope gradient map are also offered as part of the operational service.
At INTERGEO 2026, the AdV will present the latest developments and planned future products from Smart Mapping, such as the basemap.de P50 raster (presentation version at a scale of 1:50,000).
