GEPOS

Centimeter-level positioning, nationwide, in real time, for an unlimited number of users: that's GEPOS®, the German Satellite Positioning Service. Germany's Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) is building this national positioning infrastructure based on Precise Point Positioning-Real Time Kinematic (PPP-RTK). A nationwide network of GNSS reference stations (BKG's own GREF stations, combined with reference stations operated by Germany's state surveying authorities) delivers the observation data. This data uses GEPOS® to compute correction parameters, available in real time as a single unified stream via DAB+ and the internet. GEPOS® has been in initial operation since January 2025, with full operational service starting January 2027.
